TEST TEST TEST Freshly refurbished in March 2026 under new ownership, Worthy Cottage is a beautifully restyled historic gatehouse cottage offering a quiet retreat, sleeping two in one bedroom with one bathroom. Contemporary colours and furnishings blend with the charm of this characterful building. Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room with a wood-burner, kindling, matches and logs provided. Upstairs you'll find a spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed and lovely views across the Manor gardens to the sea beyond, along with the bathroom, which has a shower over the bath and heated towel rail. Wall-mounted heaters throughout provide instant, adjustable heat, and electricity and heating costs are included in the price. The kitchen is fitted with a washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and ceramic hob, along with a toaster, kettle and all the usual utensils, crockery and cutlery (no dishwasher). An iron, ironing board and hair dryer are provided, along with a starter supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk, plus cleaning materials and toilet rolls. Bed linen and towels are included, though a cot is available without linen. The TV has an Amazon Firestick with access to Amazon Prime, Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, BT Sport and the owners' own film and TV library, and wireless broadband is available throughout. Outside, the cottage has its own private garden (not enclosed) with a table and chairs, ideal for relaxing in this unspoiled corner of Exmoor, plus an external tap and hose for washing off muddy boots or dogs. Off-road parking for one car is available directly outside the property. Dogs are welcome (maximum two) by prior arrangement for a GBP 25 supplement per dog; please keep dogs off the sofa and upstairs, and never leave them unattended in the cottage. The property is strictly non-smoking, is not suitable for children, and is not suitable for guests with restricted mobility or wheelchair users. Space: Space Access: Access Interaction: Interaction Neighborhood: Porlock Weir is a picturesque harbour village on the Exmoor National Park coastline in Somerset, with a history stretching back to the 15th century. The small tidal harbour, with its ancient lock gates and pebble beach, sits at the heart of a thriving community. You'll find a welcoming pub, restaurants ranging from relaxed dining to Michelin-listed Italian cuisine, cosy cafes, and a popular street food takeaway -- all within walking distance of the harbour. Independent shops and galleries line the lanes, including Exmoor Glass, the Harbour Gallery, and Porlock Bay Oysters, which opened expanded premises in 2024. The larger village of Porlock is approximately one mile away and has a broader range of amenities including grocery shops, a traditional butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre, and a selection of independent restaurants and tea rooms. Most shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season. Porlock Weir was recently used as a filming location for The Salt Path, the adaptation of Raynor Winn's bestselling memoir about walking the South West Coast Path.
